A learning stretch is defined as the demonstration of knowledge and research over an beyond previously learned material.
Example: A student is interested in a career in the visual arts fiel, and his school does not offer a course in glassblowing. Student works with a mentor, learns the equipment, safety procedures, and techniques to blow glass and create a vase as the product.
Example: A student is interested in fashion designing but does not know how to sew, use a sewing machine, and/or pin a pattern. The student will learn how to design and create a jacket or other piece during fieldwork with a mentor.
